Mystery Socks
Well in March I joined my first Mystery Sock KAL, well two of them actually, and it's a total blast, I definitely recommend, that if you LOVE socks, go join Sock Knitters Anonymous and Solid Socks. I'm sure that the other sock forums on Ravelry are wonderful but I figured starting with two is plenty. lol

Socks
Well here I am trying to figure out a pattern for worsted weight wool socks for my husband to wear either on the road in his work boots or his hip boots while fishing. There are not a lot of patterns out there, so I'm making my own.
I started with the Turkish Cast on, and so far so good, I'm working with Brown Sheep Lambs Pride Superwash, it's what I had in my stash.
I think I've calculated my increases for the foot, leg, and calf correctly but only time will tell.
I'll post some more once I've gotten a bit farther and get a couple photo's to attach.

A New Year
Well it's a new year, so I'm going to try to keep up with this blog and get back to doing some designing.
I've finished quite a few projects, I'll have to load pictures from my phone though, since the computer won't download them from my phone.

Wyoming Spring Mitts
I designed this pattern to go with Yarnster by Shannon Cook http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/yarnster
Size:
Average adult
Materials:
DK or worsted weight wool(worsted will be a little larger, so adjust your needle size if needed), I used a hand dyed from Your Daily Fiber in Ft. Collins, Colorado
Size US6 dpns, I imagine that if you like to use a circular instead, you can do that, I just prefer my dpns
Stitch holder or scrap yarn to use to hold thumb gusset stitches
Abbreviations:
YO: Yarn over
K2TOG: Knit 2 together
PM: Place marker
SM: Slip marker
M1: Make one
Instructions:
Cast on 44 stitches ( pattern is in multiples of 4 so if you need to go up or down in size, be sure to do so in increments of 4)
Cuff:
Work in 2x2 rib for 1 inch
Body Pattern:
Row 1: YO, K2TOG, repeat around to end of row
Row 2: Knit
Repeat rows 1 &2 until piece measures 23/4 inches from beginning, ending with a knit row
Thumb Gusset:
Row1: YO, K2TOG, PM, M1, PM, *YO, K2TOG* repeat from * to * around
Row 2, Knit all stitches
Row 3: YO, K2TOG, SM, M1, K1, M1, SM, * YO, K2TOG* repeat from * to * around
Row 4: Knit all stitches
Repeat in this pattern until there are 11 stitches between the markers, on the last knit row, knit the stitches between the markers then place them on stitch holder or scrap yarn and continue to end of row.
Work body pattern until glove measures 5 inches from beginning

Bind off
Thumb:
Place stitches from stitch holder onto dpns and pick up and knit 5 stitches, making a total of 16 stitches

Life
Hello everyone, I'm sorry it's been a quite a few months since I've posted anything but it seems that life just gets in the way sometimes.
I've finished quite a few projects, taken up guitar lessons and started reno on my craft room, started but haven't finished, but it's together enough for my friends daughter to use as a bedroom this summer, she's 12 and I did the walls that I've started in purple.
I've finished a hat for a friend that asked me to make her a slouch hat, and since there was plenty of the yarn that she purchased left over, I designed a pair of mitts to match the pattern of the hat ( I'll post it in a bit). I've finished a couple of hats, done a ton of fingerless mitts in black and yellow for a friend, a dress for a 3 year old, a pair of socks, and then one sock that is a how not to knit a toe for flip flop socks. lol I'll post the pattern for those when I get them correct. :D
I've finished a baby set for a boy, seeing as how it seems I am going to be a grandmother around November, but we don't know yet if it's a boy or girl, just liked the color of the yarn, but you know I'm going to be doing plenty of baby things the next several months, may have to buy Christmas gifts this year, as I will be in baby mode. :)
I'm glad to be back and hope to post much more regularly, hope you enjoy the patterns, and have as much fun knitting them as I do.

Richelieu Mitts
Okay, I did these for a good friend who wants them for a Christmas gift. I wanted to do something different so just picked two knit stitch patterns out of my 400 Knitting Stitches Book.
I used:
Brown Sheep Wool Lanaloft worsted
US size 6 DPN's
Stitch markers
Scrap yarn or a stitch holder ( I find that scrap yarn works better for holding the thumb stitches as it doesn't get in my way like a stitch holder does)
Special stitches:
Knit 1 below: Insert right hand needle knit wise into the center of loop just below the next stitch, work stitch and slide off needle pulling gently at the same time to elongate the stitch
SM: slip marker
M1: make 1
Cast on 35 stitches divide stitches on to dpn’s and join to work in the round.
Cuff:
Row 1: *purl 4, knit 1* repeat from * to * around
Row 2: *purl 4, knit 1* repeat from * to * around
Row 3: *purl 4, knit 1 below* repeat around
Repeat rows 1-3 for the length of cuff (I did 9 rows)
Row 10: *purl 4, knit 1* repeat to last 5 stitches, purl 4, knit 1fb
Main Pattern:
Row 1: *knit 5, purl 1*, place marker, M1, place marker, repeat from * to * around
Row 2 and all other even rows: work stitches as they are presented ( knit knits and purl purls)
Row 3: *knit 4, purl 1, knit 1*, SM, M1, K3, M1, SM, repeat from * to * around
Row 5: *knit 3, purl 1, knit 2*, SM, M1, K5, M1, SM, repeat from * to * around
Row 7: *knit 2, purl 1, knit 3*, SM, M1, K7, M1, SM, repeat from * to * around

I did a single crochet around the bottom of the cuff, the top of the glove and the top of the thumb, but this is as in all things knit/crochet, optional. :)

Market Bag
Just finished the blue market bag yesterday afternoon at knit group, it only takes about a day to make one. I made the other one a couple weeks ago and Stepmother decided she wanted a blue and yellow one, so got that one done in between these two. It's a Plymouth Yarns pattern and Plymouth Yarns Fantasy Naturale Cotton Yarn.

Marla's sweater
Hot off the needles, it's a different way of doing a shawl collar than I've ever done before, usually I just pick up and knit it right on the sweater, but this patter called for knitting it separately and then sewing it on, I think I like the pick up and knit method best.
The pattern is Hand Knit Yarns by Naturally Fashion Collection FC 31, it's a New Zealand pattern that I picked up at Brown Sheep Wool, the yarn is Brown Sheep Wool Handpaints.

The Kaya Shrug
Just off the needles and ends all woven in.
I love this pattern, it was very easy and fast to do, going to start another in a couple weeks.
Will make a great Christmas gift.
